"My Family's Health" is a CBHI scheme in Prey Veng province, operated since 2009 by Reproductive And Child Health Alliance (RACHA), a Cambodian NGO established in 2003. The initial concept was first proposed as early as 2004 by Health Net International (HNI), a Dutch NGO. However it was not until 2008 that a survey was conducted to investigate market conditions in the province.

Having identified sufficient interest in
CBHI among the population, the decision was made to initiate a scheme
and in 2009 RACHA was selected as
the operator and an agreement was
signed between the two organizations. With technical and financial
support from HNI, operational staff
were recruited by RACHA and sent
to India in 2010 for training regarding
micro health insurance. In June
2010, RACHA signed its first contracts in Peariang Operational District (OD) with 3 health centers, a
referral hospital and a national hospital (and since January 2011, the scheme has expanded to contract
with an additional six health centers
across the OD)
My Family's Health was set up with the following objectives:
- To reduce poverty in the community by reducing out-of-pocket expenditure on health care.
- To educate people how to save money and avoid unplanned for expenses through buying insurance and to teach them how to prevent diseases (for instance, teaching about hygiene).
- To increase the quality of public health services.
- To reduce maternal and under 5 mortality.
- To increase modern contraceptive prevalence
